Hairline of a female patient with female pattern hair loss, also known as female androgenetic alopecia. This common condition starts with thinning of the hair, most often on the crown of head, and can progress to bald spots. It is an inherited condition and is not usually the result of abnormal hormone levels. It can occur at any age, but is more common after menopause. Treatments can prevent further hair loss, but cannot cause the lost hair to regrow. | |
