Matrix adhesion proteins, illustration. Two matrix adhesion proteins, fibronectin and laminin, are present in the extracellular matrix (ECM). Laminins are glycoproteins and are heterotrimers of three different protein chains which have binding or attachment sites for other ECM components such as collagen and nidogen. Fibronectin is a glycoprotein and a homodimer. The two chains of proteins have domains for binding other ECM elements such as fibrin and nidogen. | |
