IgA (immunoglobulin A) vasculitis rash on the legs of a female Hispanic patient. Formerly known as Henoch-Schonlein purpura, this is the inflammation and bleeding of the blood vessels (vasculitis) resulting in a skin rash, and joint and abdominal pain. It is rare condition, most often seen in children under 10. Rarely it can cause kidney damage. IgA vasculitis appears to be an autoimmune disorder, but its cause is unclear. It usually gets better without treatment. | |
