Bulbous nose of a patient with rhinophyma who has had two surgeries, five years apart, to treat the condition. Rhinophyma is most common in older men. It is thought to be a severe form of the skin disorder rosacea. The tissue of the nose thickens, small blood vessels enlarge and the sebaceous glands become overactive, causing the nose to become excessively oily. Treatment includes surgery to cut away the swollen tissue and restore the normal shape of the nose.
