A large and distinctive species the peppered moth (Biston betularia) is a member of the family Geometridae. The flight period is usually May to August, this species occurs in gardens and woodlands habitats and is found across the Palearctic ecozone and North America. The larvae feeds on a wide range of trees and shrub. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in July. | |
