Coloured magnetic resonance imaging (MRI, top) and positron emission tomography (PET, bottom) scans of the pelvis of a patient with high-grade prostate cancer. The prostate is a small gland found just below the bladder surrounding the urethra the tube urine passes through. The causes of prostate cancer are not known, but it is most prevalent in men over 50 years of age. High-grade cancers are more likely to grow quickly and more likely to metastasis (spread). | |
