The Kitti's hog-nosed bat, or bumblebee bat, (Craseonycteris thonglongyai) is widely recognized as the world's smallest bat, though there are other species nearly as small. It lives in caves in a small area of western Thailand and adjacent Myanmar where it forms small colonies (normally less than 100 individuals.) It emerges early to feed on small insects around trees. Its most-used common name comes from its pig-like nose. | |
