Light micrograph of a section thorough the exterior tissue of an anus. The lower layer of the skin, the dermis, is blue. Three hair follicles in cross-section (round, dark) can be seen in the underlying connective tissue (pink). The anus is at the end of the digestive system and is the opening through which faeces are expelled. Magnification: x40 when printed at 15cm wide.
