However, local groups and clusters stay bound together under their own gravity, with the blue arrows here showing some of the gravitational influences for a region of the universe centred on the Local Group (the group containing our Milky Way galaxy). Just left of centre is the local supercluster (the Laniakea Supercluster). At top centre is the Coma Supercluster. At right is the Pisces-Perseus Supercluster. At left is the Pavo-Indus-Telescopium Supercluster. At far left is a poorly understood region known as the Great Attractor, with the blue arrows showing its gravitational influence. | |
