This frontal image from a cerebral angiogram shows findings representing Moya-Moya which translated from Japanese means puff of smoke. This is an idiopathic (uncertain etiology) condition which results in progressive narrowing and eventual occlusion of the main arterial branches at the skull base. There is secondary enlargement of small perforating branches which try to re-establish blood flow. The enlargement of these small branches results in a vascular blush that can look like puff of smoke. This image also shows bilateral cochlear implants. | |
