Climate epidemiology research. Climate epidemiologist installing an infrared camera as part of research into the evolution of tick populations responsible for many diseases. This forest is near a city, with changes caused by urban expansion and increasing numbers of tick-bearing animals. Changes in animal and plant populations, and related disease patterns, are one aspect of the consequences of climate change due to global warming. As well as ticks, populations of fleas and mosquitoes are also affected by climate change. This study is being led by French researcher Karine Chalvet-Monfray (shown here). | |
