Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a portion of a stamen (bottom) and pollen covered anther (top) from the Boronia alata flower. The finger like protrusions seen here secrete sticky globules of scented aromatic compounds, perhaps to attract pollinating insects. This shrub is native to Western Australia. It produces bisymmetrical pink flowers through spring and summer. Magnification: x152 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
