Albrecht Thaer (1752-1828). 1864 illustration of the German physician and agronomist Albrecht Daniel Thaer. Thaer was well-known for the application of science to agricultural practice and is best-known as the first agricultural scientist who arranged the existing facts and theory of agriculture in a proper system. He was an avid supporter of the humus theory for plant nutrition. He served the king of Prussia, and took possession of Moegelin (now Reichenow-Moglin in Germany) where he set up a school. | |
