Cut finger (image 2 of 5). Close-up of a healing cut on the knuckle of a finger one hour after the cut. The skin has been cut along with some small blood vessels. The blood has dried and coagulated in the air due to the presence of clotting agents in the blood plasma. This is to prevent infective agents entering the body. Also, the drying blood has held the two cut edges of skin together in the ideal position for healing. For this cut 5 minutes after the event, see image M330/702. For the same cut healing over two weeks, see images M330/704- 706 | |
