Altocumulus undulatus clouds. Composed of water droplets and ice crystals, these medium-level clouds occur between 2000 and 7000 metres. Their rippled appearance led to their being named undulatus (undulating),which occurs due to wind shear. They are indicative of a deterioration in the weather conditions.
