Sebaceous naevus on the scalp of a young female patient. Over the past few years,this harmless growth (a type of hamartoma) has increased in size to the point where it has become a burden to the patient. This condition is also known as naevus sebaceus of Jadassohn. Consisting of sebaceous gland tissue,it presents as a hairless plaque on the face or scalp,and is present from birth (congenital). During adulthood,hyperplasia of sebaceous glands can cause this growth to become hypertrophied and elevated
