African elephant (Loxodonta africana) using its trunk for feeding. It is tearing vegetation from the ground before putting it in its mouth. An African elephant needs to eat around 120 kilograms of food each day. The African elephant is a social herbivore which inhabits the savannah and forests of sub-Saharan Africa.
