African elephant (Loxodonta africana) using its trunk for feeding. It is tearing strips of bark from a tree and putting them in its mouth. An African elephant needs to eat around 120 kilograms of food each day. The African elephant is a social herbivore which inhabits the savannah and forests of sub-Saharan Africa.
