Wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi) hanging from a knapweed flower (Centaurea sp.). This spider is found in low growing grassland in southern England. It hunts flying insects,grasshoppers and crickets. Females can grow up to 15 millimetres in length,but the smaller males only measure 5 millimetres in length. Photographed in August in Kent,UK | |
