Crab spider Misumena vatia devouring a honey bee Apis mellifera. The crab spiders are a family named for their curved legs which gives them a crab- like stance & sideways movements. They are slow & awkward in their predatory behaviour. When an insect approaches they merely extend their long front legs,align themselves with their prey,& wait for the insect to walk into them. They possess poison on their chelicerae (biting jaws) which is very potent to arthropods and this enables them to catch quite large insects,such as the honey bee
