This single-celled organism is covered in hair-like cilia,aiding locomotion and the movement of food particles towards its oral groove (dark brown,at centre). Directly below the oral groove are the macronucleus (red) and micronucleus (purple),containing the genetic material. The two contractile vacuoles (white) help to maintain the water balance within the Paramecium.
