This comparison shows how anatomical features reflect the lifestyle of an animal. The leg of the elephant is straight,providing a pillar-like structure of thick bones that helps to bear its great weight. By contrast,the leg of the camel is bent at rest. This is so that the animal can spring away quickly from a standing start,without having to bend or flex beforehand to gain power.
