Epididymo-orchitis in testis. View of acute redde- ning and inflammation of the testis & epididymis. This condition is called epididymo-orchitis. The swollen left testis (centre) has displaced the normal unaffected right testis. Epididymo-orchitis is caused by an infection. Often there is no obvious source,but sometimes the cause is a bacterial urinary tract infection that has spread along the vas deferens (sperm duct). In rare cases,epididymo-orchitis results from the spread of tuberculosis. The symptoms of severe pain and swelling are similar to testicular torsion. If this is ruled out then treatment includes anti- biotic drugs and rest
