The swelling is a haematoma,which is an abnormal area of blood,usually clotted,due to internal bleeding or bruising. The treatment is aimed at stopping the bleeding and then reducing the swelling. A large haematoma that is pushing up against adjacent organs,like this one is pushing on the skin,can be surgically drained. The blood clots and bruising will eventually heal normally. A tennis elbow operation is carried out to correct an inflammation of the tendons in the elbow
