Many substances can act as allergens,most commonly pollen,animal hair and some chemicals. Inhalation of allergens,or contact with the eyes,provokes an excessive response from the immune system. Typical symptoms include a runny nose and swollen watery eyes. Treatment is with antihistamine drugs that help to reduce the reaction
