This is a form of herpes zoster (shingles) where the varicella-zoster virus (that also causes chickenpox) damages facial nerves and can cause paralysis. In this case,the patient's mouth is distorted. Pain occurs in the affected region and also the ear. Treatment with corticosteroid drugs may help to reduce the pain
