| Inflamed liver. Gross clinical specimen of a sectioned liver with chronic active hepatitis (autoimmune hepatitis). This condition is often associated with other diseases,such as connective tissue inflammation (lupus erythematosus). Its symptoms may be no worse than a vague feeling of being unwell. As a result,it is often only detected during a medical investigation of another condition,for example an abnormal liver function test. A positive diagnosis can only be made from a liver biopsy.
