Brain cancer. Gross specimen of a slice of a brain affected by several secondary melanoma tumours (black dots). Melanoma is a cancer of melanocytes,pigment-producing cells found mainly in the skin. It is a highly malignant cancer and spreads (metastasises) rapidly throughout the body. Most commonly it is caused by overexposure to the ultraviolet radiation in sunlight.
