| Domestic hot water cylinder. This tank heats and stores hot water for the home. It is made from copper and is covered with foam insulation to prevent heat loss. Pipes containing hot water from the central heating system pass into the interior of the cylinder and heat the water. A secondary and back-up means of heating is provided by an electric immersion heater fitted to the top of the cylinder. The temperature of the stored water is controlled by an electrical thermostat fitted to the side of the cylinder (white,lower centre) | |
