Investigating resistance of wire. Student using wire taped to a metre ruler to investigate the resistance of different lengths of wire. The wire is connected to a power supply and a multimeter. Two probes (in hands) are held across a section of the wire of a marked length and the voltage between them is determined using the multimeter. The voltage will decrease or increase depending on the length of wire. The longer the wire the higher the resistance
