Athlete's foot (tinea pedis) is the most common form of ringworm,a fungal infection of the surface of the skin that particularly affects the scalp (tinea capitis) and feet. It is caused by various species of fungi including Microsporum,Trichophyton & Epidermophyton,which feed off the protein keratin found in skin. It is highly contagious and is spread by direct contact or via infected material. Ringworm is treated with an antifungal agent
