Particle tracks from an electron-positron collision seen by the L3 detector at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva,Switzerland. L3 was built around the large electron positron (LEP) accelerator ring, which ran from 1989-2000. Elements of the detector are outlined in red. The collision produced a J/psi meson. This particle is not seen, but is revealed through its decay products; a muon (blue line) and antimuon (green line). J/psi consists of a charm quark bound with a charm antiquark | |
