Brown-eyed tree frog (Nyctimantis rugiceps). This frog is rarely seen,as it normally inhabits tree holes high up in the canopy. This one is near the ground. This tree frog is found in South America,in tropical and subtropical forests and swamps in Ecuador and Peru. The adhesive pads on its elongated toes allow it to grasp and climb trees while the protruding eyes allow a wide range of binocular vision. Tree frogs feed mainly on insects and other small invertebrates. Photographed in Ecuador | |
