Computer artwork of a forest of Calamites of varying size (10 to 50 feet tall) growing in lowlands near the brackish waters of a prehistoric inland sea during the Devonian period (around 370 million years ago). Closer to the ground,about 6 feet tall,are a variety of Drepanophycus plants,which preceded the Calamites by about 20 million years and coexisted with them for another 35 million years
