Kidney dialysis (haemodialysis) is necessary when the kidneys are unable to filter waste products from the blood naturally,so the patient's blood is fed through a dialysis machine (dialyser,at left) which acts like an artificial kidney. The procedure takes several hours and must be repeated several times a week
