Plastic sulphur. Hand pouring molten sulphur into a beaker of cold water. This rapid cooling produces a flexible form of sulphur called "plastic sulphur". The sulphur is heated until it is almost at its boiling point (around 445 degrees Celsius). The rapid cooling does not allow the sulphur to crystallise in the normal way,and it instead forms the "plastic" form, which is made up of an amorphous arrangement of individual atoms | |
