Diffusion of potassium permanganate,image 2 of 4. A piece of potassium permanganate was placed at the bottom of the beaker at 12 o'clock. (2 hours ago). It has now diffused throughout the water in the beaker,however the weak colour of the solution indicates that the potassium has not diffused completely. Diffusion is the random movement of molecules in solution eventually leading to a uniform concentration of the molecules throughout the solution.
